Our People

Everyone contributes to making a difference in the lives of service users. It is the quality of our people and the passion and dedication they give every day that sets us apart as an organisation. We’re confident, warm, and we go the extra mile with good humour.

Peer Mentors

Cranstoun’s peer mentor scheme provides an opportunity for those who have found stability in their own recovery to support current service users in theirs.

Peer mentors can pass on their experience of using recovery skills and tools, build on their mentee’s social and community networks and support their attendance in a person-centred, goal orientated way.

All peer mentors are required to access structured training on the following topics, to support you in your role:

  • An Introduction to Peer Mentoring (two days)
  • Harm Reduction and Relapse Prevention
  • Self-Awareness and Boundaries
  • Motivational Interviewing and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy
  • Equality and Diversity and Dual Diagnosis
  • Safeguarding and Domestic Violence

If you are interested in becoming a peer mentor, please speak to your care coordinator to discuss a referral to the project.

  • Peer Mentor Testimonials

Volunteers/non-counselling

We love our volunteers. They bring new skills, fresh perspectives, local community links and contacts and make Pavilions an even more diverse and vibrant organisation.

Volunteering in this field can be challenging, exhilarating, fun & incredibly rewarding. You get to work alongside and learn from a dedicated bunch of people, gain valuable experience, on the job training and make a whole load of new friends!

Pavilions has a wide range of opportunities for volunteers, including:

  • Helping to run groups
  • Open access support
  • Meeting and greeting
  • Outreach
  • Admin support
  • Assisting with assessments

Your time and commitment will be rewarded with:

  • Improved confidence and self-esteem
  • Essential experience of working in the substance misuse field
  • The opportunity to be part of a team
  • Access to ongoing training
  • The opportunity to share your experience and to give something back
  • Something to enhance your CV, and a reference from Pavilions

What do I need to be a volunteer?

We don’t expect you to have a lot of previous qualifications or experience – wanting to volunteer is the most important quality for us!

If you are in recovery yourself, all we ask is that you are stable with some clean time behind you.

You will receive regular support through supervision, and training for your role. We also pay your travel expenses.

We are looking for volunteers to commit to half a day a week, for a minimum of three months.

How do I get involved?

Complete the application form here and post or email it back, or call us for a chat about the roles we currently have for volunteers.
