There are many groups of study drug which all have their own pros and cons. Many of the most effective ones are prescription only.
Prescription Study Drugs
Prescription study drugs are used by many for legitimate medical reasons. One of the most famous is Ritalin and is prescribed to sufferers of Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), its chemical name is Methylphenidate and it bears a very close resemblance to amphetamine like substances. It is a very intense drug which acts upon Dopamine and Norepinephrine within the brain, meaning that not only does it stimulate people and help them focus, but it also causes pleasure and euphoria which opens up a high abuse and addiction potential. Users of Ritalin (Methylphenidate) are prone to jaw muscle clenching and lack of sleep due to the stimulant effects. Ritalin is a very useful study drug as it improves attention span and generally allows people to focus for long periods of time as it combats fatigue.
Adderall is another common prescription drug that is used to treat ADHD. It is composed of Dextroamphetamine which is a direct psychostimulant and member of the Amphetamine class of compound. Adderall is a strong stimulant which will cause euphoria and general body rushing and teeth clenching, as well as appetite suppression and insomnia. Due to it boosting levels of dopamine and noradrenaline, it can be addictive and can cause withdrawal if discontinued abruptly. Adderall is an extremely potent stimulant and smart drug, all aspects of mental awareness and clarity are enhanced, and it is generally stronger than Ritalin. Adderall was used by the American Air force to combat fatigue and increase reaction speeds with their high speed fighter jet pilots.
Modafinil is another prescribed drug which is commonly used to combat fatigue in sufferers of Narcolepsy and people with general excessive fatigue syndromes. It is also used off label for people wanting to combat fatigue and improve cognitive function. It is generally considered a safer drug than Amphetamine based drugs as it does not seem to cause euphoria and addiction. It can be purchased online through various sources, however in the UK it is prescription only. It keeps people alert and awake, but it's effects are not necessarily all that noticeable unlike Adderall and Ritalin.
Ephedrine is another powerful stimulant and study drug which is similar in structure to Amphetamine. It is prescribed in some countries as an appetite suppressant and decongestant, however, many countries used other drugs because Ephedrine is used in the illegal production of Methamphetamine. Ephedrine is a powerful stimulant, with weak euphoric properties and generally low addiction potential. It is known to cause heat production by the body causing some people to feel hot and sweaty. Ephedrine is used commonly with Aspirin by body builders as it allows them to work out longer and it causes the body to burn fat quicker, this is why people feel hot while taking Ephedrine. It has a long duration of action so, is best taken in the morning. Tolerance builds up quickly with Ephedrine, so it is best to discontinue use for a period once tolerance builds up. Ephedrine will increase alertness and attention, although some people sometimes feel restless. Ephedrine is commonly used by students as a study aid in the USA.
